What actually happens, step by step

No step here is hidden until you have paid for it. This is the whole process, in the order it actually runs, for temporary residency, permanent residency and the cédula that follows.

  1. 1. Your first message

Message us your nationality, goal and timeline. We tell you which route fits and quote your fixed fee in writing — before anything is filed.

  2. 2. Your document checklist

Built for your specific nationality: which clearance offices are accepted, which apostille chain applies, which translations Paraguay’s immigration office actually recognises. We tell you which item to start first because it is the slowest.

  3. 3. Legalisation

Apostilles and sworn translations, sequenced so nothing expires before its appointment. This is where most delays happen when nobody manages the order — we manage it.

  4. 4. Filing and appointments

We schedule the appointments in Asunción and file your application. Where your family is involved, we schedule everyone together wherever the office allows it.

  5. 5. Approval and the cédula

Once residency is approved, the cédula application follows. It is issued within a window we confirm rather than promise, and we keep you posted rather than leaving you checking a status page.

  6. 6. What comes next

Temporary residency runs its term, after which most clients apply for permanent residency. Some, having seen the country, look at the Investor Pass instead. We stay with you either way.

The document checklist, at a glance

The generic version, for orientation. Your real checklist is built against your nationality — see what you need before you apply.

  • Birth certificate, apostilled
  • Police clearance from your country of residence, apostilled
  • Proof of means (varies by route — we confirm what qualifies for yours)
  • Sworn translations of every foreign-language document
  • Passport, valid for the duration of the process
  • Marriage certificate and dependents’ documents, if filing as a family

Temporary residency duration: up to two years (renewable), then permanent residency can be requested in the last 90 days of the card. The cédula is an official 60 working days for a first-time foreign-resident cédula, often longer in 2026. Ready to start? Message us or take the Route Finder first. Comparing us with other providers? Your case, step by step

  1. Prepare your case

You provide your documents and goals. We confirm the route, checklist and scope before filing.

Timing: Depends on document collection, legalisation and translation; we agree the sequence with you.

  2. File and attend appointments

We prepare and handle the filing in Asunción. You attend the appointments required for your case.

Timing: Appointment availability and document readiness determine the schedule; confirmed before you travel.

  3. Authority review

The authority reviews and decides your application. We follow the case and tell you if further documents or appointments are needed.

Timing: a case-specific processing window confirmed in writing for your case; document readiness and authority review affect the timing

  4. Cédula after residency approval

Once residency is approved, we prepare the cédula application and you attend the required appointment.

Timing: an official 60 working days for a first-time foreign-resident cédula, often longer in 2026

  5. Temporary term and permanent application

For the standard temporary-to-permanent route, you hold temporary status first. We confirm when you can apply for permanent residency; it is a separate application.

Timing: up to two years (renewable), then permanent residency can be requested in the last 90 days of the card
